Vintage Thingie Thursday

"Standing still is the fastest way of moving backwards in a rapidly changing world."   -Lauren Bacall

I found a really cool blogsite today...........actually I had already been following Colorado Lady's blog but for some reason this is the first time I saw her "Vintage Thingie Thursday" post.  So I am posting my Vintage Raggedy Ann Dolls today.

Here is what is really hard to admit.............I MADE THE DOLLS AND THEY ARE NOW CONSIDERED VINTAGE ITEMS.............for all I know they might already be considered Antique!..........Whew.........I need to sit down for a minute before continuing............

Ok I am so glad I still had a glass of Merlot left to help me deal with the reality of that last statement............but, yes, I made the dolls for my niece way back in December of 1970!   My niece has long since outgrown the dolls and they made it safely back to me a few years ago (thanks to my Sis) and here they are in all their glory...............

It's amazing but they are actually signed too!  I must admit that I have not been so good at putting labels on many things but I did on these:

You all realize, of course, that I was but a mere CHILD when I made these, right????............Well I think I'll go have another bottle glass of wine......

TA TA FOR NOW.............

Oh, and please go check out all the other Vintage Thingies on Colorado Lady's Blog!

Love your Raggedy Ann and Andy! My kids had the same dolls in the early 1980's. My Grandma(when she was in her 70's) made the dolls for them. It looks like the same pattern. Thanks for sharing:) You did a great job!

I hadn't remembered that you dated them. They're as old as Evonne 4col! I'm glad you have them after all these years.

You did better than me. I wish I had saved a few more things, but when young you think differently. Your dolls are keepers.

Love your Raggedys! I made Raggedy Anns and Andys for my kids, and nieces and nephews. Probably 6 of them altogether. I still have two of my kids Raggedy Ann's. My DGC play with them. I love the dolls and still have a collection of fabrics for the stockings, legs, bodies etc. I'm sure I'll make more in the future.

Yeah, this whole 'what and who' is vintage is pretty hard to swallow (I use a Dirty Martini to help). Your dolls are cute. I remember the Raggedy Ann craze in my teen years - everyone (girls) dressed like that for Halloween. Glad you've joined the party. Happy Thursday.

Oh girl are you ever sparking memories for me. My mom gave me and my sister who was only a year older than me a pair of raggedy dolls one year. Our Aunt had them made for us. I loved them and they looked so much like yours. My sis still has hers, but a bunch of my stuff (me being the youngest) got lost when I went away to college. Mom swore that she did not throuw it out. I'm sure that she didn't do it intentionally, but the moved soon after I married. Anyway, I miss those cuties. Thanks for sharing yours! Now a new follower.
Hugs,
Jann

Looking at your dolls I am reminded my brother and I had dolls (we called them Cholly and Lolly, but I am not sure if that is what they were really called. One was blue the other pink and they were plaid had little 'bell' jingles in them. anyway I was watching an episode of Intervention and there was a pic of the girl when she was little... and she had a Lolly doll!!! I do still have mine and I think my Brother has his! Oh, what treasure our toys are!!!
