Little Apples Quilt Update

"Don't wait around for other people to be happy for you. Any happiness you get you've got to make yourself."
-Alice Walker

Hello Friday!............. and another week is nearly gone...soon it will be May.........it's true that the older one gets, the quicker the time passes for us............
Well my Little Apples quilt is now 82" x 92" and I am finally ready to say it is big enough......

I added the teal border and then the pieced border, followed by another white border...............unfortunately I used so much of the original 6 and a half yards of my backing fabric for the teal border that now I am short for my backing.....I do have some of the white background fabric left and some remnants of the green and red fabrics so maybe I will piece them.  I'm not excited about ordering any more fabric right now so I think I am going to put it away for a day or two and think about it........maybe I will decide to just use something entirely different..............ideas anyone?

Not much else to tell you so I think I will start my May mug rug for my Year Of Rugs Swap........
then maybe work on a Mother's Day table runner.........so I'm off to do what I can before it's time to go to work tonight..........

TaTa For Now........

The Apple quilt is beautiful; I would piece the backing from your leftovers...unless it will take too long. I can understand not wanting to do that after piecing the top..lol.

But I think a pieced back would tie it all together.

The additional borders set the entire quilt off beautifully. A pieced backing can be fun but then using a totally unrelated fabric is too. I look forward to seeing what you decide. Have a wonderful weekend!!

This turned out beautiful! I made one and only added one additional border. I think the next one will have more borders. Very striking.
I really love pieced backings. They make the back as interesting as the front of the quilt. Sometimes even more interesting.

The quilt looks great! I love how you finished up the front. The borders really add to the look and make the panel stand out. Can't wait to see how you finish the back =D

No wonder I haven't heard from you today. You've done a lot to finish that gorgeous quilt top. I agree that a partially pieced back would really set it off. I like those beautiful guys holding up your quilt too. Your quilt looks so pretty under your tree.

I read this post earlier, but didn't have time to comment. But it just dawned on me.. is that from the layer cake that you won? It turned out sooo cute! I love it, Ida!

I also liked that you repeated the borders again. It frames it nicely. And by all means, piece the back together from leftovers. Makes for a good conversation starter, and no leftovers that you have to worry about matching anymore......
