I have caught the "Bug"..............

"To wear your heart on your sleeve isn't a very good plan; you should wear it inside, where it functions best."  - Margaret Thatcher

Yes..........you read that right............I am afflicted...........got it bad too..........I caught it from you, my blogging friends..........it seems to be an illness that is easily transmitted from one blog to another..............I have a stash full of fabulous fabrics that never seem to be "right" when I have a project to make

I have FQ's in the top two rows and yardage in the bottom........just not right.....

even in my backing fabrics.....the right thing isn't there.......

sometimes I forget about the drawer where I have all that black and white and gray fabric for that Plus quilt I'm planning to make.............is the fabric I'm looking for there....or maybe with my pretty blue fabric stash below????

ahhh.........look at those glorious blues for that peacock wall hanging I'm going to make one of these days............nope....not there either...

......oh wait....what about those two layer cake stacks I have stored above my Christmas fabric and solids?...................nope...it isn't there either..........

........so you understand that I "Must" go to the fabric store and find the perfect color, the motif that is exactly right..........and while I'm there I just happen to see something else that is on sale so this illness manifests its symptoms by telling me that it is only right that I get this fabric since it is on sale...............the affliction doesn't stop there.........I get online and see the fabric line I have been coveting for months.......it is about to be discontinued and may be gone forever.......and the "Bug" says to me that if I don't get it now I may never see it again..............
Yes, my friends...............the Bug  "MADE ME" buy a charm pack and a honey bun of Fairy Tale friends by American Jane.......

I found the most fabulous pattern for a quilt made with a block called "Converging Corners".........sort of a court-house block which I plan to use the Fairy Tale Friends on:

Yes, I know I still have to finish those UFO's.......the Dresden State Bird Quilt and the Little Apples Quilt my Crazy quilt..............ummmmmm while I'm on the subject............did I tell you about this bug I caught that causes you to grow bunches of UFO's????

Well I'm out of time right now but I will tell you about it next time........TaTa for now..........

Yes but then you can join lots of QAL'a to use ONLY your stash to use some of it up, because it isn't doing anyone any good just sitting on a shelf. This way you can save up lots of money to go BIG shopping when your feeling much better to buy newer fabric to replace all that you just used up. :D

Tee hee :) That fabric will look awesome in that pattern though so you pretty well had to buy it...

I'm sorry, my friend... you may have caught that from me! I could have written this same exact post. There must be a 12-step program out there somewhere....

I just donated a bunch from my stash to Phoenix Quilts, which made me feel much better about my recent impulse buy of about a zillion fat quarters. I still have more fabric than I know what to do with and none of it is quite right for anything... but at least I made a little more room on the shelf for the next time I break down and buy fabric I don't need.

IDA! I am shocked at you. Letting yourself catch the bug like that! By the looks of things you need to do s stash sort...maybe the right fabric is lurking there and you just cant see it =P

Also I've added some new fabrics into my swap shop, as well as a new one via Flickr. If you're interested feel free to check them out =D

It sounds like the story of my life!!! Good luck with the bug. If you find a cure, would you please let me know.

Ida, there is no cure for this bug, so don't bother calling the doctor or trying to find the aforementioned 12Step Program, LOL... The only way to recover is to keep stitching, sewing and buying more to replace what you've used, just as Ann Marie suggests

Oh girl I understand and that bug bites hard and fast! lol! The week before I left for my road trip with friends I was working on a few of my UFO's. Still have more, but at least I have 3 items at the quilters. It is so hard for me to get in the sewing mood this time of year. Our quild has a quilt show in September so I am trying to finish a few before then. I have been staying away from quilt shops and trying to finish what I have. the bug doesn't bite quite as hard that way. Sure love that line of fabric!
Hugs,
Jann
