“Anyone who tells a lie has not pure heart, and cannot make good soup.” ― Ludwig van Beethoven
I am a "sit on the sofa and eat my soup" type girl......and those soup bowls can get a little warm to the fingers! I used to take a kitchen towel with me to wrap around the bowl......that is until I came across this wonderful free soup cozy pattern! (this size is more of a hot cereal size......)
You use 2 fabrics from a layer cake (10x10) and 2 10x10 pieces of batting for each cozy to make one large enough for a cereal bowl. I found they were a little small for a soup bowl so I added an inch and a quarter to each layer cake square and that worked perfectly! I apologize for my photos....they really don't show the difference in the sizes very well....the red fabric is the larger one
Here you can see the different sizes a little better.........they sew up in about 10 minutes!

I love these things! I first discovered them when I had my first bout with Bell's Palsy in February, 2017. It seemed that all I could eat was soup. They were perfect. Great way to use scraps too. Once I made them I found several visitors really liked them too. Great gift for people like that. :)
Hi Ida what a great idea,i am like you a soup on the sofa girl, lol xx
Thanks for the link. I have been thinking about making some for myself. Those look great, but more importantly, they are so functional.
I love these bowls. I am making more for the trade table at our quilt show...
Oh I have been meaning to make some of these for ages..thank you for the link.
These bowl cosies are fantastic, aren't they! I haven't made any yet but they are on my short list. Perfect for reheating food in the microwave too, when the bowl usually gets hotter than the food.
What a great idea. I'm glad you posted the pattern so when I'm ready to make my own (in case no one makes any for me) I'll be able to come back to your blog to find the instructions. Thanks!
These cozies work great for COLD ice cream bowls, too.
