Hello Friends! My friend, Beth, over at Love, Laugh, Quilt is having a Sewing Museum Linky Party this week and here are my entries into the show!
I will start by showing you some of my equipment and first up is my very first sewing machine.........some of you have seen it before....(and actually, it is in slide show on my header)...my old Rockford which I have had since I was a teenager...(and it still works great!) ...it is housed in a cabinet my son, Jeremy, found at a garage sale when he was 12 years old. Jeremy hid the cabinet in the garage while he refinished it and then gave it to me for my birthday "way back when".....
next up is my Singer treadle....not really sure what the model# is....maybe someone can help me out? This is a sewing machine I inherited from my MIL....it needs some cleaning and oiling to get it back to sewing condition....but isn't it a beauty?
Right now I have a "tabletop" of sorts on it so that I can still get use of the cabinet with my "modern" Singer.............
And now some notions, and "etcetera" items.............
Here is a gorgeous vintage sewing box (also from my MIL) I noticed an identical box on Beth's page, only hers is in blue..........
..........some vintage 50's Singer sewing machine attachments....I believe these include a gathering stitch, blind stitch, and other decorative stitch attachments.....sewing machine oil can and tomato pin cushion (complete with sawdust!)....

................some miscellaneous vintage buttons and needles.............look at those price tags!
...............and, of course, we all know that those quilt blocks are never right until they are ironed and pressed! I actually have some old memories of my grandmother ironing with one of these......she would place it on the wood burning stove to get hot first........

You have tons of fun things! I enjoyed seeing everything.
Great items you dug up. I remember most of them. It's a good thing we're such good hoarders to hang on to all that interesting old stuff. I could probably dig up a couple of Simplicity patterns that we learned to sew with to add to your antiques. I wonder what happened to our old seam gauges and those little pin cushions you'd put on your wrist?

Your old machine is gorgeous! Aren't you glad to have a modern machine? Still, the old notions and machines are charming!
You should get your treadle working, they are great machines!

Since I haven't *actually* fallen off the face of the earth, I thought I'd actually comment on a post for the first time in months :-)
I love the show and tell of all your goodies. I have a vintage Singer I have never used (shame on me!!) and the same green plastic Singer box of attachments and feet.
One of these days, work will let up and I'll have more time to write/read posts. (I've been saying that for months, but someday it will happen!!)

Oh I have so loved reading this post! It's so good that so many older pieces remain with you like that, and the Rockford keeps going... wonderful...
I have been fortunate enough to come into my Grandmothers sewing things, pretty much everything except her treadle machine which unfortunately got tossed into a dumpster. I still use her scissors which she used when she worked as a tailor in the 1930s & 40s...

Lovely sewing machines. We visited a sewing machine museum in Wittenberge two weeks ago. They had really nice machines. It was a nice journey.
