So last week I showed you the "Not Flying" Monkeys and asked for opinions on what I should use for the center.............and here is what I decided on..................
Amazing how some flaring nostrils and straight eyebrows can make some cute sock monkeys look so mean! But..... where there's a will there's a way............these winged guys will go on the Oz side.....somewhere near the dark forest and witches castle....................Oh....don't forget to go check out the other flowers growing in Karen's OFW at her Journey of a Quilter Blog............click here!
Last week I finished one more tote bag.....this one for my SIL, who loves animals but especially doggies...............
I used the same pattern that I had used for a couple of the totes I made before but I wanted this one a little larger so I added a few inches..., and well, it turned out quite a bit larger.......I tried to get Ally to show you all just how large this bag is......
.....but she was having none of that.....lol.....she made a very quick getaway.......usually you can't get your animal "helpers" to stay out of the way of your quilty photos....unless you specifically want them IN the photos!
I made this post in advance of my little break from work so all I have to do is hit the "publish" tab on Wednesday morning. I will be visiting family for a few days but I will try to post again while I'm on the road.....I usually have a project to make for the Grands.....I try to show you something then ............
Oh...one more thing before I go.....I am at visiting my Sis and her husband at their little ranch right now and having a wonderful time....so we will both just say "Ta-Ta for Now"
So last week I showed you the "Not Flying" Monkeys and asked for opinions on what I should use for the center.............and here is what I decided on..................
Yes, I think Miss Gulch is the perfect center for these sock monkeys who will go on the Kansas Side of the Oz hanging.....somewhere in the tornado..............Yes, I know in the story there were no sock monkeys in Kansas but I am taking "poetic license" or "artistic license" or some kind of license to put them over there since I'm in charge of making this quilt.....LOL.....
And I have to say that I just couldn't leave it alone.....my apologies to my friend, Sunny, but the hanging just NEEDS some flying Monkeys...........so I spent a little time with my fabric pens and came up with this............

You did a great job with your monkeys! They're not quite as scarey as the ones in the movie. I really can't wait to see your quilt when it's all put together.
The flying monkeys flower is excellent and wonderful bag too!
I love the flying monkeys!!!!
Ooh, you picked the one I liked the most (for the Kansas side).
LOVE your flying monkeys. The Wicked Witch did a number on those cuties and made them into something sinister (but not nearly as gross/creepy as the ones in the movie--eew, they're so flea bitten looking!).
Great job on those mean-looking monkeys!
And such a lovely pic of the sisters together... enjoy your time away!
LOL love what you did with the pen Ida...
Have fun with your Sis
Those monkeys definitely needed a little touching up to make them as mean as they are in the movie. They look great and the center is perfect.
I love the big bag!!! What a great size it is.
Have a great time with your sister. I know that we need not tell you that.
Great monkeys. All of them are great, especially the two sister-monkeys at the end. I already miss you but am so glad you came to visit. What a great time we had!
Hahaha! They have got to be the coolest monkeys ever! So fun what you can do with a few fabric pens and some imagination!
HA HA HA HA HA!!! I *love* what you did to those monkeys. It's hard to make a sock money look scary, but I think you found just the right balance of "scary" but not "frightening." I can't wait to see what you think of next!
Love the bag, too. Sorry your helper wasn't more helpful!!
I love both the sock monkeys and the flying monkeys!
LOL! Love what you did with the monkeys! :) Looove that bag too!
